- Day 1: Arrive at The Pear Orchard Lodge (in Hope)
- Arrive at The Pear Orchard Lodge in Hope, be greeted by your hosts and make yourself at home. Your bikes will be available for you from the next morning.
- Alternatively, if you arrive at the airport after 3pm, pick up your bikes directly from the airport and cycle out to The Pear Orchard Lodge.
- Day 2: The Coastal Ride (63km) - Grade 1, 2 & 3

Kaiteriteri - Motueka - Mapua - Hope
(note: this can be shortened to Motueka - Mapua - Hope) - Be issued with your cycle & accessories, receive route instructions & maps and a briefing at the lodge
- A shuttle will take you to Kaiteriteri
- Cycle from Kaiteriteri to Mapua (49 km) at times following the scenic coastline, at others viewing it from the heights, bypassing the fishing township of Motueka, commercial heart of this fruit growing region
- Leave Kaiteriteri on the Easy Rider mountain bike trail set in beautiful bush (easy grade). Cycle past citrus orchards, vineyards, through apple and kiwifruit orchards and hops. At Riwaka enjoy a fresh berry icecream with a fresh cherry on top, or a great home made pie and a beer tasting from the Hop Federation.
- Lots of quirky places to enjoy refreshment stops along the way, including boutique breweries, community enterprises, great cafes, yummy berry ice-creams etc
- Explore the little seaside town of Mapua with its many restaurants, cafes and galleries.
- Cross from Mapua to Moturoa/Rabbit Island on the bike ferry and head back to The Pear Orchard Lodge
- On the way swim at a pristine white sand beach, enjoy beautiful wetlands, visit medal winning wineries, cafes, restaurants, FREE cheese tasting at The Junction Cheese Shop, indulge in scrumptious real berry fruit icecreams. There’s something for everyone.
- Day 3: The Tunnel Ride (45km) - Grade 1 & 2
- Tapawera - Spooners Tunnel - Wakefield - Hope
- A shuttle will pick you up and take you to Tapawera
- Cycle towards Kohatu and then Spooners Tunnel
- At almost 1.5 km long, Spooners Tunnel is the longest disused rail tunnel available for cycling in the Southern hemisphere.
- From the tunnel the trail is a 10 km downhill blast. Then you are cycling alongside the Wai-iti river until just before you reach Wakefield
- From here it's an easy cycle through the villages of Wakefield and Brightwater riding through the vineyards, past cafes.
- Take a last opportunity to do some tastings at award winning wineries and boutique breweries before arriving back at The Pear Orchard Lodge.
